Forging Futures Campus

Forging Futures Campus

We’ve launched a pioneering new skills centre at Kirkstall Forge in partnership with Leeds College of Building, Wates Construction and Leeds City Council. The Forging Futures Campus provides vocational training, site visits and work experience for students, local people and young people not in education, employment or training. We have staged construction themed activities and opened up the Campus to local school pupils.

Ultimately our vision is to help train Leeds’ future architects, bricklayers, civil engineers, joiners, plumbers and electricians through site visits, curriculum projects, hands-on work experience and mentoring support. Forging Futures Campus showcases a pool of talent in action, which has allowed businesses to be able to visit, monitor and select their apprentices.

The Skill Mill

We have partnered with the Leeds branch of the social enterprise The Skill Mill since February 2016, providing work and training opportunities for young people who have been involved with the Youth Offending Service.

The Skill Mill was established in Leeds following a successful pilot in the north east of England. We are proud to be involved with this unique, not for profit social enterprise which employs young people aged 16-18 to carry out flood risk management, environmental, horticultural and watercourse management works.
