Kirkstall Forge

Looking back at a successful 2018

19.03.2019 | Blog

2018 was a year full of landmarks and achievements at Kirkstall Forge, from events to awards – there was plenty to celebrate.

By the end of the year, there were some 680 people working at Number One, Kirkstall Forge, the UK’s Healthiest Office and the first office in the development. Zenith and CEG occupy over 70% of the office space while 2018 also saw healthcare giant Bupa take 2 floors within the building. Butler’s, the on-site kitchen and bar at Number One continued to grow in popularity, hosting a number of events and becoming a favourite with office workers, commuters, walkers and cyclists. It was always the intention for Butler’s to be the heart of Number One so it’s fantastic to see it being used so well.

The Forging Futures Campus initiative, which offers young people on-site training and mentorship to better equip them for the world of work, continues to be successful with over 70% of those taking part in the Employability and Skills course going on to a positive outcome such as employment, further education or apprenticeships. Meanwhile Number One became a multi-award winning office in areas such as health and wellbeing, digital connectivity and design.

Last year more and more people used the train station at Kirkstall Forge, prompting further services to be announced. There are now two trains every hour between Leeds and Bradford, via Kirkstall Forge. This is making it even more easy to get to and from Leeds city centre in just 6 minutes.

It is expected that by spring over 900 people will be working in the building. Early this year, leading car brand Mercedes-Benz agreed to occupy a 3,000 sq ft ground floor office suite, meaning that Number One is now 93% let.
