Kirkstall Forge

Forging Futures Campus launch

29.03.2017 | News

We recently launched a brand new skills initiative on-site at Kirkstall Forge called Forging Futures Campus.

This is a pioneering new skills campus delivered by CEG through an on-site co-ordinator in collaboration with Leeds College of Building, Wates, Leeds City Council and BARCA which aims to bring forward the new apprentices of Yorkshire by offering young people and people from the local area the opportunity to get hands on experience and mentoring from contractors on site.

This is a very exciting time for Kirkstall Forge and for all the people who will be involved, enabling them to work alongside developers, builders, architects and engineers and in turn it provides a springboard for apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

The launch event was well attended, with Jon Kenny representing CEG, Andy Wates – Group Services Director, Wates, Ian Billyard – Principal, Leeds College of Building, Cllr Mohammed Rafique, Executive Member for Employment, Enterprise and Opportunity, Leeds City Council all speaking at the event. Delegates from the Department for International Trade, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University and soon-to-be tenants Zenith were also at the event.

In anticipation of the initiative launch, we produced a video with Trinity Vision, part of Leeds Trinity University.
