17.05.2019 | Events

Last night we were proud hosts of Leeds Digital Drinks ‘Founders Leeds’ Event at Number One, Kirkstall Forge with excellent and informative guest speakers from CEG, Hark Systems, Keracol and Toast Ale and tasty canapes provided by Butler’s.

The event was focused on sustainability in business and over 40 attendees were encouraged to travel sustainably to the event making full use of the Kirkstall Forge railway station!

Mike from Hark Systems talked about the positive impact businesses can have on our ecosystem and the considerations needed as a start up business to make best use of efficiencies, followed by Karen from CEG who spoken passionately about the importance of taking climate action in Leeds and encouraged the audience of tech and creatives to get involved in the citywide conversation to find innovative solutions.

After a short break during which many took the opportunity to tour the Forge Studios based in Number One, Meryem from Keracol was the next speaker urging everyone to be more conscious of our use of natural resource and explaining how Keracol was born to provide sustainable and functional cosmetic and food ingredients. The final speaker of the evening was Ben from Toast Ale who focused on the cost of food waste, and that 44% of all bread produced in the UK is wasted, Toast Ale aims to provide an excellent tasting solution to this wastage and are currently working with local Leeds brewery Northern Monk, sharing their recipe for creating ale from bread too!
