We’re delighted to bring you the next event in our popular ‘Different by Design’ series with Danish Cyclists Federation CEO and former Technical Mayor of Copenhagen – Klaus Bondam.
We’ll be discussing sustainable travel and we will explore whether Leeds could become an exemplar UK city when it comes to healthy, sustainable transport.
We all talk about the need to reduce our reliance on the private car and turn to more sustainable, healthy forms of transport – in particular cycling. But what does it take to make that change a transformation?
At Kirkstall Forge, we have embedded infrastructure for cycling, walking and public transport at the heart of our masterplan and we continue to look at the best examples from around the world to get even better. One place that is seen as the global leader is Copenhagen in Denmark. More people now commute by bike than by car, but this has not happened overnight – it has taken decades of planning and investment as well as strong political leadership.
We have invited Klaus Bondam (Danish Cyclists Federation CEO and former Technical Mayor of Copenhagen) to share his experiences with us. Alongside our Landscape Architect, Pete Swift, Managing Director of Planit-IE, who will present how CEG’s plans for Kirkstall Forge and Temple are planning for a low carbon and active travel future.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to local cycling charity Wheels 4 Fun.
Please note that there will be filming/photography during the event, if you do not wish to be photographed please let a member of the Kirkstall Forge team know upon arrival at the event.
